Eight acclaimed movies of the
Turkish cinema to be screened for the cinema lovers
After the success of Turkish Film Days in Athens, the second Turkish Film Days will take place in Thessaloniki, will open with a Gala Event at Pavlos Zannas Theatre (5th floor, Olympion Building) on May 27. This year, once again, we are proud to present to you screenings of high-caliber films of Turkish cinema.
Turkish cinema fans will have the opportunity to watch distinguished movies of the Turkish cinema’s well known, innovative directors during the 4-day-event being organized by the Culture and Tourism Office of the Turkish Embassy in cooperation with the Consulate General of Turkey in Thessaloniki and Thessaloniki Film Festival.
During the “Turkish Film Days”, apart from films of the new Turkish cinema, classic movies that have won distinctions and awards at world renowned film festivals in Toronto, London, Venice, Thessaloniki will be shown: Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım / The Girl with the Red Scarf, Gelin / The Bride, Sivas, Küf / Mold, Anayurt Oteli / Motherland Hotel, Karpuz Kabuğundan Gemiler Yapmak / Boats Out of Watermelon Rinds, Pandora’nın Kutusu / Pandora’s Box and Yılanların Öcü / The Revenge of the Snakes.
In general, the audience will have the opportunity to see the films of legendary Turkish actresses, such as Türkan Şoray and Hülya Koçyiğit, and internationally known directors, Ali Aydın, Ömer Lütfi Akad, Kaan Müjdeci, Atıf Yılmaz, Metin Erksan, Yeşim Ustaoğlu, Ömer Kavur and Ahmet Uluçay.
The themes of the films screened during the 4 days, will fill the audience with strong emotions, familiarize them with the various parts of Turkey, get them in touch with different characters and offer them the experience of intense adventures.
Additionally on Tuesday, the audience will have an exceptional chance to meet with the successful actor Ercan Kesal (Küf / Mold), and well known director Kaan Müjdeci (Sivas) before the projection of the films.
